The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a suspected member of the gang that robbed clubgoers at Ghost and Spirits Lounge on Ekoro Road, Abule Egba, over the weekend.
The suspect, identified in a viral video by the green shirt and cap he wore during the incident, was arrested after the lounge management announced a N5 million bounty for information leading to the apprehension of the robbers.
Police said the suspect remained in custody and was being interrogated, while efforts were underway to locate other members of the gang who escaped after the attack.
The robbery occurred at about 4am last Saturday. Footage from the scene showed customers gathered around vehicles outside the lounge when the attackers arrived.
One of the suspects, who had been standing near the customers, approached a victim and attempted to remove his wristwatch after another member of the gang fired a shot to announce their presence.
The robbers subsequently took valuables from the victims before returning to their vehicle and fleeing the area.
A police source confirmed that the suspect was arrested following tracking and intelligence gathering.
“We have one suspect in custody, and he is assisting us with useful information. We are trailing the others. The command will not rest until all the perpetrators are brought to book,” the source said.
The Lagos Police Command said it would continue efforts to apprehend the remaining suspects and bring them before the law.
